The current state of the youth in Bangladesh

Recently BRAC university conducted a study on the youth segment in Bangladesh. The study shows the striking imbalance and other problems faced by the youth segment in Bangladesh. Some of the major findings of this study are –

– Close to 80% youth believe that the education they receive in Bangladesh will not be useful to get them a job.

– Due to socio-economic barriers, a vast majority of the youth are still deprived of modern education.

– The youth significantly lack computer skill and ability speak fluently in English.

– A large number of the youth reported not to have a role model or guide to their success.

– Females are far less likely to receive the modern facilities compared to the male segments among the youth of Bangladesh.

Our approach to bridge the gap…

Dikhha is a virtual school that offers skill-based, micro-learning courses and mentoring support to Bangladeshi students – specially to those who are under-privileged.

Meet our Experts

Chief Inspiration Officer

Dr. Sayem Hossain

Dr. Sayem Hossain is the Chief Inspiration Officer (a newly created position by himself) who does everything from web designing to creating learning resources in Dikhha. Despite having a very humble beginning, Sayem always strived to push his limits and unlock new doorways. An avid learner, Sayem learnt more from the failures of his life which only made him a stronger version and gave a rock-solid mission in life. After swimming through the waves of life and seeing the ups and downs, Sayem came with the realisation that we can live either "as average or be obsessed to something". An exposure into world-class education from Australia was an eye-opener for Sayem and he realised that 'world-class' education can truly transform us into our better version. So he become obsessed with helping others, specially those who are under-privileged by connecting with world-class education. Apart from inspiring through Dikhha, Sayem's day job includes - Research and Strategy expert for Australian government, lecturing at various universities and playing PS game Little Big Planet with his princess!

Data Science Guru

Dr. Mostafa Sheikh

Dr. Mostafa is one of the most talented and accomplished educators in Dikhha. With expertise in Data Science, Machine learning, Natural language processing, Data analytics and Semantic web - Mostafa has worked in startups, lectured at universities and currently serving as a Data Scientist in NSW Health, Australia. Mostafa believes that the Data and Analytics is the future and the young generation should proactively seek opportunities to become data literate. Mostafa is super excited to teach data science through Dikhha and help the young generation of Bangladesh to become a catalyst of a brighter future!

English expert

Rumana Ahmed

Rumana Ahmed is our resident talent on English courses. Rumana is one of the rare talents who has dabbled into all the disciplines eg. Arts, Commerce and Science in her education. With a Master's degree in English Rumana has a solid foundation in English language which helped her to teach English for more than a decade to many students. Her students have achieved IELTS score upto 8.5 and are now studying in different parts of the world. She did MPhil from one of Australia's top universities and also taught a variety of courses in both Management, Business Information systems. After receiving a prestigious scholarship from Monash University, Melbourne, Rumana currently is undertaking a PhD in ERP systems.
